As we build our knowledge database, we want to share with you all that we know — from design and engineering tips to manufacturing hardware — , in our mission to #HelpMakersMake. Learn more.

Factorem is a one-stop shop for custom prototyping in SE-Asia. If you want to upload files on our platform, here’s the ideal file formats that we accept for prototyping! We hope to serve you soon :)

CNC Machining/Turning

Preferred 3D Formats: Universal CAD formats such as

STEP: .STEP| .STP |

IGES: .IGES | .IGS

Parasolid: .X_T

We prefer that you don’t upload software specific 3D files such as SolidWorks or Autocad. This is because Factorem works with a range of screened manufacturing partners and many of them only work with tools that can open universal CAD formats. Converting files may lead to some features being lost.

Preferred 2D Formats: We strongly suggest that you upload supporting 2D files (drawings) as a .PDF document. Here’s why you should upload a drawing and here’s a resource that can help you create a great technical drawing.
